An Atheist, a Muslim, and a Jehovah's Witness walk into an the church...

October 22, 2018

I know what your thinking...
it's like a really colorful
Pillsbury dough boy costume. 😉

I know that that title sounds like the beginning of a joke but it ain't no joke!! We have this ami who is 20 who is Muslim, his friend is Jehovah's witness, and the other friend is an Atheist. We had taught all of them the first lesson and we invited them to church and they all showed up!! Its literally insane how many different churches there are here like and just walking down every single street it feels like there are more churches than houses! There are a zillion different evangelist churches that believe their own things and it is hard to find the same church twice but just some examples are Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints (of course), Muslim, voodoo, Jehovah witness, Assembly of God, Celestial church, Catholic, 7th-day Adventist, and it goes on and on. Haha, every time we teach the first vision and we talk about how Joseph Smith didn't know which church to join every Ami can relate on a personal level.

We had the baptism this week of the 3 kids we have been teaching!! We went to go pick them up and I've never seen anyone so excited to get baptized!! They ran up to us and wouldn't let go hugging us, screaming, and running in circles ðŸ˜‚ Their parents weren't able to come cause their dad had malaria but it was the most spiritual baptism service I have been in. These kids come to church on their own every week and have this little New Testament book (haha not exactly our church version) that they read and have memorized from cover to cover and know stories in the bible that I don't even know! It was a beautiful thing to see them get baptized.

Frere Ubert!

Our counselor in the bishopric came whose name is Frere Ubert. He is the youngest 84 year old I have ever seen! He joined the church 4 years ago and said after being baptized in the Catholic church, then the Assembly of God, then in the Jehovah's witness, he got baptized in the true church. His conversion story is really cool but in short, he got really sick 4 years ago and had to go to a hospital in Ghana. There he met the missionaries and even though he couldn't really understand them cause they were speaking English, he knew that what they were saying was the truth he had been looking for. He came back to Togo, found the church and got baptized! And now he is probably more enthusiastic about the gospel and a bigger missionary then anyone I know!! He talks to EVERYONE about the church and I've never seen him miss a chance to bear his testimony to someone from just on the street or to a kid in primary. Haha, and his house is always packed monday night with people's families he has invited for family home evening!!
Shout out to My father Bullock burning his 1-year mark shirt!!

Also sorry yall for not sending an email last week. You can thank a cyber full of hackers and a power outage for that ðŸ˜‚ but I will send the one from last week after this.
Love y'all!
