"Miracle Glass" and Tithing

March 25, 2019

We showed up to one of our rendevous this week and this man that we had met a couple times before was sitting there, legs crossed, sipping on his glass of Sodabi (which is super strong alcohol). Well, it wasn't his first one and it was obvious that he was super drunk but the good thing about here is that when someone is drunk, they are always super nice! So, he started telling us how he wanted to talk to us. He explained where he lived and gave us his number no joke 12 times! Haha, he told that he was a child of God too and he needed to learn the gospel! Well during all this we had talked to him a little bit about the word of wisdom and how alcohol isn't good for our bodies so he set his half-filled glass on the ground. After we were done talking he looked over and his glass had tipped over and his alcohol had spilled out. When he saw that it had tipped over he jumped up and started screaming "miracle, miracle! We've seen a miracle! The angels of God are with you that's why it fell over! My glass was sitting right there, but God tipped it over and he is already helping me stop drinking!" He then recounted the story of this miracle another 10 times before we left and swore that this was the time for him to change. Haha, it was hilarious but I really do hope that we will get a chance to talk to him and try and help him stop drinking!

In that same lesson with the member she expressed to us some difficulties she is having in providing for her family. She felt like every business she does, every way she tries to earn money she just ends up losing money and has to use the money she does make to eat. This woman, despite her financial hardships has been letting a homeless mother with 4 kids stay at her house and can't find it in her to make them leave because they won't have anywhere to go. She came to us and asked for advice as to what she should do. Sitting there, me and Elder Turiano were trying to think about what we could say to her. At close to the same time we both turned to Malachi 3 and started talking about the blessings of tithing. She is ready to be baptized next week and has started paying tithing. We testified of the reality of the blessings that there will always be enough for us if we will put our trust in God and in his blessing that he promised. We received a strong testimony from the spirit that God is a god of promises and that as we put our trust in him and seek to do his will, he will not leave us in the dark forever. Love you all!
