Plague and Corn Stand

March 18, 2019

A couple days this week we had some INSANE rain and electrical storms! The lightning here is crazy, it made it impossible to go to sleep because the thunder was just shaking the apartment all night and the lightning was flashing all night long less than every 2 seconds. Our power went out for the next day so that night we had our door open so the wind could blow in. Well, I come back from the kitchen and look in the living room and there are hundreds of big ole flying insects inside our apartment just flying everywhere around our light! We were late for a rendevous so my companion convinced me that we would just get them out when we got back. We went outside and there were THOUSANDS of these flying bugs everywhere! On the walls, in the air, on us, in shoes, everywhere. Bugs life became our life that night trying to just keep them from crawling all over us 😂 Well, we got back that night and they were all gone but there were thousands of wings on the ground. Yup turns out they were all termites, and they somehow get wings for a couple hours every once in a while, and then as they are flying they fall off and they fall to the ground and crawl away! Haha so the hundred in our apartment we still haven't found besides their wings but its ok cause we've got it narrowed down. The whole places is made out of concrete besides the couches so... :)

I know our ami Seur Augustine has been in my emails almost every week but she literally is the most hilarious lady I've ever met so here is another funny thing she did this week. We get to her house to teach her (she's set for this week!) And she says we can't teach her cause she is selling running her business. She started selling roasted corn on the side of the road that the people here like a lot but she said she couldn't leave her stand 'cause she was watching for the military! I asked her what she meant. She said the military told her she couldn't sell on that road cause it's on the way to the president's house. They have already taken 2 of her stands and this time she is smarter. She decided to put the whole stand on this big wagon, and she watches to see if any of the military are coming. When they do she books it into the forest behind her house and doesnt stop! Haha, she kills me! Don't worry, we will definitely make sure to teach the lesson "respecting the law" soon ;) love y'all and hope you have a great week! \

Really nice "pastor/prophetess" we taught who invited us to a pastoral conference next week. Then we had to explain how we weren't pastors :') (that was a crazy lesson).
