Anyway, this week was awesome. I went on splits with Elder Hemon who is this half-Tahitian half French guy from France (i know right ladies ;) ) and he is a really cool guy and an awesome elder and I learned a lot from him! One thing I learned from him is that it is ok to be bold as long as you are loving. We were teaching this ami named Petit who can't get baptized yet because of a problem with the dote (dowery) but he never misses a week and has a really strong testimony. His wife hasn't really wanted anything to do with the church. After knowing this, Elder Hemon decided he was going to talk to Petit about the dote. He asked him a bunch of questions and then asked if we could talk just with his wife. In my mind I was like, oh flip this is either going to go really good or really bad... but what have we got to lose! She was really reluctant to talk but Elder Hemon insisted and started asking her tons of questions and pretty soon we were flipping through chapters, teaching on marriage, haha. A couple times she tried to get Petit to save her but Hemon insisted she stay and made her sit back down. And then in the most intricate way I have ever seen he tied all of this to the first principle in lesson one about the nature of God and prayer and by the end she said she wanted to meet with us again! Got my respect. Through all of it the one thing I noticed is that everything he said was full of love, and learned that as long as we have true love for people that we are talking too there is no need to be shy because WE HAVE THE TRUTH! They don't know it yet and may not want to but you know it and so it is alright for them to know that you know it.
Love yall!
