Lizards in the Door and Fish in the Well

 May 20, 2019

Hey, everyone,
I want to just explain this week by the pictures and that way it will sum up my week better than i could do it in words. :)

First off on Wednesday I walk into the bathroom and closed the door, heard this noise behind me so I turned around to this!! And this is why you don't put your fingers in the door 😬

We were walking down this road and we saw these kids in this field over this well, so we walked out to see what they were doing. They had this hook on the end of this little line and told us they were fish in it! "No way," I was thinking, "how are there fish in this thing!!?" But sure enough, the kid put his grasshopper down into the water and after a little tug his bait was gone. So, we spent the next 10 minutes running all over the field trying to catch grasshoppers to use as bait and sure enough, we caught this well monster!

We did splits this week with the other elders in our district and went to teach their amis in an Ivoirian refugee camp that is on the beach. It definitely looks like what you would imagine and there are just a ton of these houses you see packed in super tight. All these people came over from the Ivory Coast about 7 years ago when there was a civil war and all have just stayed here. This is where most of our ward lives too.
We found the source of all the water sachets! We taught a new ami this week and he has a water sachet machine which his how everyone drinks water here and the sachets are EVERYWHERE all over the ground here in Togo.
Baptism of an amazing young man named Martin. This kid is a stud! He has the biggest desire to serve a mission than any 16 year-old I've met. Haha, the baptism was kinda rough because the font was broke so we had to bring in a hose and everyone had to wait around for 2 hours until there was enough water to baptize in, so we were just thankful it happened!
Love y'all! Elder Briggs
